The exotic Perle Noire abandons herself to the disco

New Orleans burlesque queen Perle Noire is a sassy shining disco ball of light in Craig Ilott's latest production, Velvet. It is a coup for Ilott to have enticed the internationally acclaimed Noire into his glamorous 70s world and the Mahogany Queen of Burlesque is just as excited to be part of Ilott's new and highly anticipated show. Noire is best known for her award-winning tribute to the legendary Josephine Baker and she was hand-picked by Dita Von Teese to perform in her opulent Strip Strip Hooray production. Now Noire is captivating an Australian audience in her Garden of Unearthly Delights debut amid what she calls a "stellar'' cast. Describe  Velvet  to us in one sentence.  "Velvet is a place to experience pure felicity and abandonment.'' What is it like creating a new show from scratch? "The creative process can be overwhelming. There is a lot of pressure to be the perfect muse for the creative team. "However, there is nothing more rewarding than working with an amazing group of people. The hard work is worth it in order to make audience forget about the hardships of day to day life.''  Tell us about your role in the show and what you love about it. "I named my character, Sasha! She is a captivating woman who represents freedom, strength, sexuality, and wisdom.'' What comes to mind when you think about the 70s? "Fashion! Hair! Glamour! And of course, music!'' What is your favourite disco song and why? "My favourite disco song is He's the Greatest Dancer by Sister Sledge. I love this song because of the musicality and the celebration of movement. Dancing is so therapeutic and entertaining.''  Tell us about working with director Craig  Ilott  and the rest of the fabulous cast. "Craig is amazing! The audience is in for a spectacular show. It's so hard to concentrate during rehearsals because the cast is stellar. "I've actually been moved to tears a time or two by the heart and soul of this beautiful ensemble. They give me chills.''
