Entertainment Hive 2020

Hair raising musical spectacular

The largest production of the musical,  Hairspray is heading to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre  for three  performances only from 14 - 15 October. Directed and choreographed by  Callum Mansfield, this big fat arena spectacular features some of Australia's biggest musical theatre stars  alongside a large amateur ensemble of more than 500 local performers. Amateur performers between the ages of 9 and 21 took part in a special Hairspray bootcamp in the July school holidays which will culminate in the once-in-a-lifetime theatre experience. Two of the lead Hairspray performers, Lauren McKenna and Dan Venz, visited Adelaide to take part in the inspiring bootcamp. The show is set in 1962, and pleasantly plump Baltimore teen Tracy Turnblad has only one desire - to be on television dancing on the popular Corny Collins Show. When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star, but she must use her newfound power to vanquish the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin and integrate a television network - all without denting her 'do! The Harvest Rain production stars  Simon Burke,  Christine Anu, Tim Campbell,  Wayne Scott Kermond, Amanda Muggleton  and Lauren McKenna as Tracy Turnblad  alongside a cast of  over 500 performers.   Hairspray The Big Fat Arena Spectacular, Adelaide Entertainment Centre, October 14-15.
