Open your eyes to Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2018

It was an eye-opening start to the Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2018 with the who’s who of Adelaide and the cabaret world walking the red carpet of the celebrated event on Friday, June 8. With this year’s theme ‘EYES OPEN’ audiences should prepare for a diverse program of music, comedy and cabaret. Adelaide Cabaret Festival Artistic Director, Ali McGregor says she wanted to capture the sense of change in the world with this festival. “I wanted to capture the sense of change in the world at the moment and how cabaret is, and always has been, at the forefront of telling the stories of change, reckoning, futility, and fun. “I am so proud that we have such a diverse and international cross section of the very best that the cabaret genre has to offer. “I’m personally involved in the debut of my new show about Yma Sumac, directing a line-up of my some of my favourite variety/burlesque/circus acts in Glorious Misfits, and a show celebrating the work of Tom Waits with Charly Zastrau returning to musically direct. “Plus, of course keep your eyes peeled for our cabaret dinner and the ever popular opening, closing and (my favourite) family galas!” See below for a pictorial of the glamorous Variety Gala red carpet including the ever sparkly Hans, show-stopping Nancye Hayes and Todd McKenney, Opera Australia soprano (and member of the Opera Burlesque) Antoinette Halloran, Amity Dry, Katie Gleeson and many more.
